How I became
involved with the Equine Touch I would describe myself as “just an ordinary horse-owner” who
discovered something extraordinary the day I was introduced to the Equine
Touch. It’s fair to say that I haven’t
looked back since. As a UK-based practitioner and tutor, I officially assisted the UK
instructors with Level 1 and 2 courses. I also held workshops and tutorials at Bristol
Horseworld, a sanctuary for rescued and often abused horses and ponies, where
I took students through their paces. In May 2007, I was invited to attend the first ever Instructor Clinic
in Texas and in August of the same year I immigrated to the Mid-North Coast
of New South Wales. I am motivated by a profound interest in the communicative, healing
and restorative powers of touch when
it comes to working with the horse’s physical, mental and emotional
wellbeing. This extends to addressing
the horse’s related feelings of pain, stress, anxiety and fear. I have worked extensively with traumatised horses, as well as sports,
working and leisure horses. This has included the police horses of Bristol
(UK), the stock of a Friesian stud and Save the Brumbies, a project that
“gentles” brumbies for a new life of domestication While their stories and circumstances are clearly very different, it’s
a constant source of amazement how much their attitude and behaviour can
change as even minor issues are resolved or reduced. |
